A tracker plays a song as a list of patterns. Each pattern is 16 steps for 4 voices: voice 1 and 2 are pulse waves (lead and arpeggios), voice 3 is a triangle (bass) and voice 4 is the noise drums.
Tap a cell, then tap a note on the keypad. Hold (–) keeps the note above it ringing, rest (·) is silence. Pick maj, min or pow before a note to make it a fast arpeggio chord, the classic keygen sound. Echo adds a quiet repeat three steps later.
Keyboard: arrows move, Z S X D C V G B H N J M are one octave and Q 2 W 3 E R 5 T 6 Y 7 U I the one above, [ ] change octave, - holds, . or Delete clears, K S H O are kick, snare, hat and open hat on the drum voice, Space plays and stops, Ctrl+Z undoes.
Songs are saved in this browser only. Browsers can forget them (private windows, Safari after 7 days away, clearing site data), so export the ones you want to keep. A shared link works for anyone who has it; ticking "submit for release" asks IMPALA to put it on this page.
Greets to the keygen musicians who squeezed whole songs into a few kilobytes, the tracker scene, everyone who ever left an intro running just to hear the tune, and you. Original music only: bring your own tunes, not ripped ones.
